In July 2016, InnovaCare, Inc., added three more executives to their organization’s management team. According to Richard Shinto, company President, each of the additions provides a unique skill and rich background, which would ensure excellence at InnovaCare alongside the ever-changing and increasingly complex healthcare landscape.
The three new executives include Jonathan Meyers, who serves as the Chief Actuary Officer; Mike Sortino, the Chief Accounting Officer; and Penelope Kokkinides, the new Chief Administrative Officer.
Penelope Kokkinides is the Chief Administrative Officer of InnovaCare. Previously, she had served as the Vice President of Clinical Operations and COO at InnovaCare. Before rejoining InnovaCare, she was the COO at Touchstone Health, and later became the COO and Executive Vice President of Centrelight Healthcare.
She then joined New York University for a master’s in social work, which enabled her to study for a postmaster’s degree in alcohol and substance abuse at Columbia University. Kokkinides believes that she brings ideas to reality thanks to the great team that works with her.
Rick Shinto is the President of InnovaCare, Inc., and is also serving as the Chief Executive Officer of InnovaCare’s Health Plans in Puerto Rico. He was previously the CEO and president of Aveta, Inc., a position he rose to after serving in Aveta’s management team.
Shinto has over twenty years of managed healthcare experience; his expertise is depicted by the various executive positions he has held. Before his post at Aveta, he was the COO of Medical Pathways Management Company before leaving to become the CMO (Chief Medical Officer) at NAMM California.
Dr. Shinto has studied in various Universities. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Irvin; his medical degree from the state University of New York, Stony Brook; and his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Redlands. Dr. Shinto has authored numerous articles on clinical medicine and health care. He has also won the Access to Caring Award from Western University of Health Sciences.
